Marian Niestedt has been advising clients on all aspects of trade compliance and economic security for over 20 years. He specialised in foreign direct investment (FDI) screening law, export control and sanctions law as well as customs law. He has extensive experience in foreign trade and customs law compliance audits as well as the development and implementation of compliance measures. He also represents clients before the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), customs authorities and national and European courts.

According to the JUVE Handbook of Commercial Law Firms, Marian Niestedt is one of the leading lawyers in foreign trade law, foreign direct investment (FDI) screening and customs law in Germany. He is (co-)editor of leading commentaries in the field of German and European foreign trade and customs law and co-editor of ZASA (Zeitschrift für das Recht der Außenwirtschaft, Sanktionen und Auslandsinvestitionen).
